how long did it take for you to notice a difference, and how often did you practice/stretch? even when i was dancing for 15 hours a week and doing yoga, i have never been able to go into splits. when i started working out, i couldn’t even get my hands below my knews when bending forward with straight legs and now people at my yoga class call me a contortionist, assuming i’ve always been this way. i can just totally recommend everybody to get into stretching for it’ll make you healthier, feel your best and get a good amount of crucial body awareness. i don’t know when my “turning point” was, but i’ve been practicing a bikram variant for about five years, and now instructors marvel at my flexibility.

i aim for a daily practice, and now when i miss more than two days in a row, i see extreme differences in what i’m able to do that first day back on the mat. i can now touch my palms to the floor in a forward bend. the biggest thing with yoga is when your mindset becomes flexible and you realize you should never compare yourself to what someone else can do. i’ve been practising for about 10 months now and definitely see an increase in my flexibility and i’m not the type to push myself too hard. i do however pay attention to areas that need work like my hip flexibility and it has also been getting a lot better.
