however when uni break came around i started climbing 3x a week at higher intensities. the obvious answer is if you feel like you are really worn down, then you aren’t resting enough for you. also i would like to add that i’m in your position as a fairly new climber and would like to add one thing. i’m a relatively new beginner as well (9 months), and this is some of the best advice i’ve received on climbing training: -if you cant make it to the wall/routes, then at least do some heavy exercises of complimentary muscle groups (forearms, biceps, core, legs, and shoulders). and definitely, work in endurance, i was so bad at this at the start -_-… -work in a fair amount of chest and back exercises too to help with posture, and avoid putting too much stress on one side of your body.
just aim for 3x a week– and modify it as you go adding rest days when you feel fatigued or not fully recovered. either go 3x a week and shorten sessions until you can lengthen them again. i actually quite like a few weeks off a year to rebuild. 3x a week is fairly normal but you need to listen to your body. slightly under 3h, including my turn as the belayer, but it’s not so much as what others are climbing as to how my body is responding, as well as the fact that i’m a relative beginner.
