i know this is not a long time but i would like to get myself on a program that way i can develop the appropriate technique and physical abilities. at 4 months in, are you leaving yourself any time to just climb on the wall with no expectations and just to have fun? once you start pushing into anything like v5 or above, the weight is going to become a big issue on your tendons. i have to echo the previous comments. i can’t speak much on that, but again, you don’t need it to get better.

the pyramids are actually the exercise on here that i think is fine, as it can build up base fitness, give you a taste of a more structured climbing day, and help burn some calories. so my fear is that i have to take away from climbing time in order to lose weight. i also like that you say you are trying to improve your diet – abs are made in the kitchen! climbing is already “training for climbing” and it builds technique which is far more important than being able to do 10 pull ups instead of 5. i’d say for now just climb more and enjoy it, and maybe put a greater focus on training in a couple months when you’re more experienced. it looks like you have a solid approach to the this, based on your post and responses to the comments. you can always ramp up the volume or intensity but you can’t undo an injury, the time off it causes, and it’s lasting effects.
