i dont understand how they could increase pull up counts and crunches (which everyone should be getting 16+) but they couldnt increase the good damn run time to 19:30 how is it even possible to get below 19 minutes?! i’m about to push the guy to my right down to the ground or pay off a terminal lance whos about to eas to “trip” on the starting line how the fuck do you run that fast while being muscle heavy do i lie when they ask my run time?! about 3 months after that i ran my first sub 18:00, and maintained that for the rest of my career. i’m a fucking orangutan or however the fuck its spelled i’ve ran a few sub 18 minute 3 miles before (i only slowed down during deployment when running is a logistical pain in the ass.) the time trick really is to just run more, to properly run a 3 mile as an all out sprint you need to be training for 9 miles and able to run a 5 mile at a very quick pace. edit: also had an african gunny who in the past could run sub 15, yes, sub 15. he was all skin and bones and couldn’t do it anymore now that he’s old.
brand-spanking new lieutenant shows up, runs a pft in 14 minutes and change. gunny goes up to the colonel and starts ranting and screaming about this sorry waste of oxygen integrity violator cheating on the pft. had a platoon commander who was an exercise science major in college really help some dudes lower their run times without any extra running – merely a change in their running form. while going out and pounding a ton of pavement will definitely help, it’s also a good way to set yourself up for overuse injuries later in life. a perfect pft isn’t hard at all to complete. look up the couch to 5k program and get used to running 10k and the pft won’t be so bad. i used to take 3 or 4 breaks on crunches and still get 100 with time to spare.
